~Nesting~

This was a surprise when I almost walked upon a mamas nest. Who knew it would be on the ground! I wonder if it was built there or if it fell from the branch of the tree. Either way, mama had her babies under cover with her wings. She flew away as soon as I got close to the nest but came back as soon as I left it. The kids had their mouths wide open when she flew away. It was so wonderful to come across this and I took some pics, not the greatest from my cell phone, but here they are for pull up a seat. I would think that there is nothing finer than pulling up a seat inside of a birds nest.
In there is the nest Mama Babies
I just love their little beaks. It almost looks like they have fangs growing on the roof of their mouths. I don’t know what they are. Anyone?
The birds gather on the hill and I can hear them chomp chomp chomping and they’re all on the ground. So now I’m going to hike up there and see if there’s a group of little nests everywhere. News at 11:00…
Till next time,

Fascinating. Love the developing feathers.
Each day those little feathers took on a new look. I agree, it is so fascinating!
Wow, nests on the ground? I hope they don’t get stomped on!
I hope not too! It’s the first time I have seen such a thing. Now I’m checking on them all the time because of the critters. Ughgh…
That’s so sweet of you to check on them!
This reminds me of yesterday on the way home. There was a large family of geese, the goslings were maybe half way grown but they family was across the road from the lake, trying to get back.
A woman was halting traffic to allow the family to cross, I shouted to her saying that she’s doing a good thing!
The road was in a subdivision so it wasn’t super busy.
Oh I love that! Spring sure has sprung 😁
Oh, I absolutely love your photos. What lovely surprise 🤗
Oh, thank you!
Wow! What a find. I will be interested to know if you find more on the hill.
Me too! I’m going to take a careful walk today up the back 🙂
Cute!
What a great discovery!! Alas, I too came across a nest yesterday but it had fallen from a tree, thankfully there were no signs of eggs!
I wonder if that’s what happened here too but it looks nicely done🤔
Some birds do nest on the ground don’t they? Imagine the odds of them surviving with all the predators walking about there!
Yes they do, and I have that exact little worry. In fact, I just checked on them. They are still there and mama is feeding them. Cross you fingers 🙂
Fingers crossed here!!! 🙂
