~Sheckyville-Fire Style~
Mrs. Shecky took the week off of writing in her blog, and these photos will tell you why. We had a fire, in fact today as I read, we are at 76% containment. With 13,390 acres recorded burned thus far and over 79,500 people evacuated I will take the 76% containment number, however, with a very sorrowful thought for those who did lose their homes and property. I am not sure what the count is but there were several homes and properties burned and at times, we thought we were going to be a stat also.
After being in the 49r fire in Northern California, I thought I was prepared, however when one is helping someone else with their personal belongs it seems a whole lot different when packing our own personal items into the truck and stay ready to get out “just in case”. It hits home.

Luckily Mr. Shecky and I live in a neighborhood of people joining together in situations like this. So we chose to stay and wait along with them. We were checked on, called upon, and our local radio and generator helped us through 4 days of no utilities.
Ironically, we just got our local radio hooked up a few days before this. This radio network we have is amazing and most of the time we worked off the network and our friends at the local Circle S Ranch and Giracci Vineyards. They came in and kept us informed frequently. They have been through it a few times and again, we sure did appreciate their knowledge. A couple of our neighbors went to wait it out in hotels and we kept in close contact. They were relieved to get the call that it was OK to go back in and just get an update. In times of these, it is the staying in touch which is a feeling of comfort.

The Responders: These are just a tiny bit of came to our help. But they came in a large way indeed. These guys and gals are amazing and we can’t have enough gratefulness for them! They were absolutely awesome. We seem to see a lot of them these days.

There’s the reason why Mrs. Shecky didn’t bake, or do yard work or pick a flower. I barely got by on my Flower Of The Day posted on my 365 Days Blog and I completely missed the Pull Up A Seat post here on Mrs. Shecky. I admit, I could have had a distraction to post, but that hill kept me in watch and thanks to the Responders I now have this view again.

I will hit the Pull Up A Seat on Friday and hopefully be back to the kitchen and garden. For now yard work from the 70-80 mph winds are in store for me.
Stay Safe. Enjoy Life.
Mrs. Shecky
That is way too close to home! Glad you are safe, and your home and family are, too. Sure puts things into perspective!
It sure does, I never thought after building a home that I may not have one.
Oh wow! Its good that you, your family and your home are safe
Yes, thank you!
That looked ominously close!! Glad that you are ok! Stay Safe!!

Me too. Thank you John. It was crazy and too close for comfort. Next time, because there always is a next time, I am going to a spa and eat cupcakes.
Hey that sounds great! Relaxing and tasty too. 😊
