~Simple Syrup-The Basic~

Also known as “sugar syrup” which, simply stated, is sugar dissolved in boiling water for ease of blending sweetness into teas, coffees, lemonades, cocktails, and other cold drinks.

Cakes benefit from it for moistness when layering and you can change the flavor of the syrup to each layer if you want. That is always fun to do.

Cocktails use simple syrup for flavoring such as Mojitos, Daiquiris and many more. I use it in Margaritas and Manhattans and use a bit of it in a Gimlet. You should have the available standard simple syrup so you can make these at home. Having to control the sweetness of a cocktail by adding just the amount you like is another perk.
