~Tablecloth Memories~

This time on Pull Up A Seat for Xing Fu Mama, Mrs. Shecky got to thinking about a memory.
Retro table cloths are a favorite to collect. This one got its turn under the green umbrella, and having a table covering is something Mrs. Shecky enjoys. So when all is done for the day, one usually comes out of the cupboard and it goes on for a topper, so to speak. *No dirty elbows.*
There is a special cupboard for those linens that came before today’s time. These are her 40’s – 60’s. Mrs. Shecky is old enough to remember these patterns and the times from which some came from. She remembers her mother using them and her Grandmother. Even her Great Grandmother had them but they were hand made and beautifully done in lace embroidery by her Great Aunt Jackie. (She remembers that from having to pull up a seat at dinners in San Francisco when she was young). Her Great Aunt Carrie also gave her a bunch when she was just a teenager moving into her first apartment and she still uses them to this day. Those memories are why she keeps and collects…and besides, it is fun!

The collection probably will never stop and some of these came from friends and family so they are very special to pull up a seat to and have a cup of tea, lemonade, (or if it is 5 o’clock somewhere, a martini…*shhhh*)

In the end, Mrs, Shecky says stay happy. These table cloths do that for her. Linens are more than just pretty, they are great memories even if you are making them in the moment. Use them. Save them. Someone in the future will surely pull up a seat one day and ponder the moments of who sat under the umbrella with this table cloth…and what were they pondering?
Lovely spot to sit and enjoy. I like table cloths also, they add both color and class.
Beautiful collection! I just bought my 2nd vintage table cloth recently. It’s so fun to find them! I’m inspired by your lovely collection of designs.
You will be hooked soon and the fun is finding them! I am happy to share the love of past.
I love the angle of your featured photo. Great idea.
Thank you very much Teresa 🙂
These tablecloths are just delightful. How nice to have them!
I’ll have a cup of chamomile and an orange scone, please, and then we can talk about which of C.S. Lewis’ book is our favorite. 😊
I ditto that!
You have a wonderful collection, Mrs. Shecky. My mother used to put tablecloths on the outdoor furniture. ❤️
I would have liked your mother 🙂
Thank you, everyone loved her. A gentle soul that loved everyone so much.
I would not of thought of putting a tablecloth on an outside table but I can see why – it looks so elegant!! 🙂
It is the simplest of things that perk places up.
You are right, it is, so often, the simplest things make the difference! That’s true for much of life too 😉
