Pull up a seat, swing and sing.
This oak has been determined to be between 200-300 years old and has been registered so we love it. Most of the big oaks on the property are at least that age and they are the perfect trees to sit under and relax for awhile.

Robust, strong, and large they remind me of my childhood wherein my brother had a tree fort in one. There was a broken branch that looked like a microphone up above and I used climb up and imagine I was in front of an audience while singing the only line I knew from the song Johnny Angel. Inevitably, someone always discovered me up there. It was my brother’s tree fort so I was led out of it. Girls were not suppose to climb trees. Anyway, I was always caught but I always managed to sneak back up. It was great.
Some may be asking, “are those fake vines”? The answer is yes, I do not have vines growing up around the bottoms of the oaks, they just are not good for the tree. These were bought at a local hobby store to hide the chain that keeps them up. Straps made from material to hold the chains are wrapped around the tree so there is no pressure on the tree limb. I am told by the arborists the tree doesn’t feel it so I am going by the pros. I think my trees love me. They swing with me.

Likewise, If you look to the right of the photo you will see some blue and red flowers. Those are solar lights. I have a few around up there planted strategically. Lights can sometimes discourage the coyotes and mountain lions that happen to meander every so often. This is my way to keep friendly with the environment and yet keep my Murray alive. Just for the record… he never goes out without me.
There’s this weeks short diddy for pull up a seat. This time it is pull up a swing and sing. Writing it brought back some fun memories of my brother who is now gone. Rack up those good times, they don’t last forever.
Til next time.
Dig the dirt and stay healthy.
Mrs. Shecky
