After planting the seeds a couple of years ago and having a wonderful burst of color, the Blanket Flowers got pulled up to refresh the area in Sheckyville. As it turned out it looked more like a weed patch most of the year so when it had its bloom for this Fall, pulling it out was the right decision.
Although they are really pretty flowers, the Gaillardia Aristata didn’t help much with the area since the shade cut off a lot of growth. So Mrs. Shecky picked the flowers and pulled the rest.
Just loving the colors of the flowers put the camera in motion. It also had Mrs. Shecky saving seeds for another area of ‘olly olly oxen free’ planting on the hill where no one goes.
Next year, the little Goblin variety might suit the property better in areas where there is traffic and lawn. The bees also loved these flowers and getting a beehive for honey would be the ticket as they also love the rosemary planted all over. There is no escape from the little buzzers so why not get some honey from the flower crew.
The flowers are very colorful and they do last sometime in a vase. When they start to wither they darken a bit and still look lovely to the eye, but time for a new design and look.
Thanks for the yard & garden moment.
Til next time,
Mrs. Shecky
