~Moody Is Better~

A Comfort Zone

I’ve been rearranging the room again and missed yesterdays post, so today’s will be a short one.

I’ve realized that I’m much more comfortable in a darker, moodier space. I used to spend most of my time upstairs in the attic where it is darker, but since my open-heart surgery, I’ve found myself spending more time downstairs. I still head up to the attic for my photography, but these days, I seem to start writing the moment I get up, and having a space downstairs that’s ready and waiting makes it so much easier.

Sitting in a stark white room was nice for a while, but it just wasn’t inspiring me when it came to writing. Turning an unused spare room into a space of my own felt like the perfect decision.

Paint… all I really needed was paint.

My new color: Black Jack.

I like this color so much that I couldn’t resist using it on the desk and wood cupboard, too. The cupboard had a little makeover with some Aubusson fabric I’ve had tucked away for decades. It’s lovely to finally put it to use.

With the walls, desk, and cupboard all refreshed, the room is really starting to come together, and I’m loving the darker, moodier feel.

Most importantly, I’m finally able to sit for a while, take it all in, and simply enjoy my new space. And that feels pretty wonderful. It moves from a grey-blue to almost blackish grey as the day goes on.

Sometimes a little change is just what one needs and I sure did.

…And then sometimes when you have a DIY project, you find where all the balls went.
Benny is now complete.
