~The Grateful Shed Chaise~

At one time this style of Chaise was known as a “fainting couch”. With one back higher on one end, it was used in the 1800s as a sort of come-back to older times for style and purposes of tight corsets and what was called “female hysteria” *a strange concept indeed*.

Today, I use this old wonder in what is known as my Grateful SHE’d. If I have any hysteria at all there, it is because I need to pull weeds that I have left to grow this past Winter. I Pull Up A Seat after walking up there, pulling up weeds, and just to get away into my own little place of nothing.

I collected tea towels and picked up this pillow cover when riding to Sturgis in 2012. It is a comfy pillow for the couch since the couch is leather. The towels decorate my windows.

Above is a snap I took of the book pages my little shed and towels were published in. Of course, it is called She Sheds Style and is by Erika Kotite who is the author of She Sheds. These photos in the book itself were taken by a good friend, Rebecca Ittner who is a very talented photographer, jewelry designer and much more. It was amazing to watch her work.
So now, it is time to up-do and refresh the SHE’d and maybe move this around a bit by taking a few things out of the room. Time will tell if another pull up a seat can get in there. Somehow I doubt it but ya never know…
Til next time,
Mrs. Shecky

Lovely retreat!
Tea towels on the window, what a great idea 🙂
Thank you! 🙂 I have so many items I like to look at and this reminded me of my travels a bit.
Much better than hiding them away in a drawer 🙂

Oh, I’d like one! Every woman needs a room of one’s own 😉
I agree! 😃
What a wonderful idea to have a She’d. A place that is yours to escape to and just relax and chill out in.
Thanks! No phones, just an old transistor and cassette player. Everyone should have a place🙂
That’s nice. We have a couple of Chais and I always use one to practice playing guitar on.
That must be a comfy spot. I have friends who used to sit on this and play so it must be something about the back and low height maybe?
You are possibly right. I’ve never thought about it before, but yes, the low back does make you sit up.
Nice word play, the Grateful Dead remembered. That’s an attractive piece of furniture, very nice. ❤️
You caught that. Yes, the Dead were my neighbors in the Bay. After the Filmore and Winterland and S.F. Parks, they were like everyday music for us all.
Wow, that’s amazing for you! My neice was a dead-head for a while, followed them around.
